Our peaceful homes
Became a barbed prison
The doors slammed shut
Against our cries and calls
Their voices answer us:
“You in there. Be silent!”

Once upon a time…
The knife threatens the throat
How can truth leave the mouth?
Once upon a time…
Our people were sacrificed
Without our retaliation

Bitter is the treason
Of those we believed in
Since time began they warned us
Against a life of slavery
So that the last of us is avenged.

How much did they tell us?
And the way they showed us
Who knows where it will lead?
They made their deals on our heads
They decided our fate without us
And grabbed the authority
